The Committee was established through a resolution from the General Council of Congregational Christian Churches in 1943, although was overseen by the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions by 1952. This collection consists of reports, articles, public relations material, subject files, by-laws, newsletters, and a few photographs.

Description

Historical Note

The Committee was established through a resolution from the General Council of Congregational Christian Churches in 1943. In 1952 the committee fell under the auspices of the American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions (ABCFM). Their primary goal was to provide international relief for disasters and refugees in the form of short-term help. Groups involved with the Service Committee were World Council of Churches, National Council of Churches, Board of Home Missions, Council for Social Action, Church World Service. Earle Ballou served as executive Secretary.

This collection consists of reports, articles, public relations material, subject files, by-laws, newsletters, and a few photographs.
