CLA Welcomes Five New Board Members

The Congregational Library & Archives is pleased to welcome Emmanuel Akyeampong, Sarah Drummond, Jesse Garner, Eric Page, and Kent Siladi to the Board of Directors this month.

“The 250th anniversary of the American Revolution offers an important opportunity for reflection on our nation—past, present, and future—and also about the vitality of our civic institutions as places for rich conversation,” said Rev. Dr. Maxwell Grant, Chair of the Board. “Our newest board members bring years of distinguished service, not only to such reflection, but also to the vitality of institutions that seek to steward such conversations. We are so grateful for their involvement.”

REV. DR. EMMANUEL AKYEAMPONG

Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Akyeampong is the Ellen Gurney Professor of History and of African and African American Studies at Harvard University and the Minister for Worship and Formation at Harvard University Memorial Church. Akyeampong is the author and editor of several books and articles including most recently, Independent Africa: The First Generation of Nation Builders (2023).

REV. DR. SARAH B. DRUMMOND

Rev. Dr. Sarah B. Drummond serves as Founding Dean of Andover Newton Seminary and Professor in the Practice at Yale Divinity School where she leads the seminary, mentors and advises students, and teaches courses on ministerial leadership and United Church of Christ Polity. She has written six books, the newest being Cultivating Competence: The Ministry of Leadership Development (Fortress Press, 2025).

REV. JESSE GARNER

Rev. Jesse Garner is an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) and served churches in Tennessee and Alabama before moving to First Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia where he was pastor until his retirement in 2018. Rev. Garner has long been very active in the work of Interfaith Philadelphia, having served on its board since 2009, and serving as Board Chair from 2018-2021.

REV. ERIC E. PAGE

Rev. Eric E. Page serves as the Pastor of Hokuloa United Church of Christ in Puakō, HI. He previously worked as an Archivist at the Lyman Museum and Mission House in Hilo, HI and Unity World Headquarters in Unity Village, MO and served as a board member of the Association of Hawai’i Archivists Rev. Page delights in teaching the joys and challenges of scripture, diversity, history, prayer, and spiritual principles.

REV. KENT J. SILADI

Rev. Kent J. Siladi is currently the Pastor in Residence at the Congregational Church of New Canaan, CT and previously served as the Director of Philanthropy of the United Church of Christ. He has been involved in all settings of the United Church of Christ, including as Conference Minister in Florida and Connecticut and as a local church pastor for sixteen years. He is an author and public speaker and a strong advocate for justice.
